The Maine Association of the Deaf (MeAD) is one of the oldest Deaf organizations in the United States, founded in 1877 and incorporated in 1906. MeAD is Maine's NAD state affiliate, dedicated to promoting the social, recreational, educational, civic, and economic welfare of all Deaf citizens within Maine.
MeAD is the first Deaf Association in the nation to serve as the RID Certification Management Program (CMP) Sponsor (approved January 4, 2024).
Events are posted on deafmaine.org/events. MeAD holds quarterly meetings throughout the year and participates in statewide Deaf community events.
